Rare Natural Vanadium Chrysoberyl From Ceylon
Exceptionally rare and captivating under changing light, this 1.63 carat natural vanadium chrysoberyl from Ceylon displays an intriguing combination of green, yellow-green and warm golden tones. Its unusual optical character, VVS clarity and bright oval cut make it a special choice for gemstone collectors and distinctive bespoke jewelry.
This earth-sourced gemstone has been carefully cut and polished into a faceted oval measuring approximately 8.35 × 6.17 × 4.17 mm. Its balanced proportions produce lively reflections while preserving the individual color characteristics associated with vanadium-bearing chrysoberyl.
The gemstone is offered as natural, unheated and untreated. With its excellent transparency and VVS clarity, it appears exceptionally clean to the unaided eye.

Green-to-Golden Appearance Under Different Lighting
Under cooler daylight-style illumination, the chrysoberyl presents fresh mint-green to deeper green tones. Under warmer light, its appearance can shift toward yellow-green and golden hues. This lighting-responsive character gives the stone a different personality depending on its surroundings.
The photographs and video were created using multiple light sources to demonstrate these natural variations. One image also shows the gemstone under ultraviolet illumination. Any color visible specifically under UV light is a fluorescence response and is separate from its appearance under normal daylight or warm indoor lighting.
Important identification note: Vanadium chrysoberyl should not automatically be described as alexandrite. Alexandrite is a separately recognized color-change variety of chrysoberyl and should only be represented as such when supported by appropriate gemological testing.

A Rare Collector Gemstone With Jewelry Potential
This loose vanadium chrysoberyl would make a distinctive addition to a rare gemstone collection. Its elegant oval shape, excellent clarity and responsive color also make it an appealing centerpiece for a bespoke ring, pendant or contemporary fine jewelry design.
Yellow gold would complement the stone’s warm golden tones, while white gold or platinum could emphasize its cooler green appearance. Consider a refined solitaire setting to keep attention on the gemstone or a diamond halo for additional contrast and visual presence.
Chrysoberyl is known for excellent durability and can be suitable for frequently worn jewelry when properly set. An experienced jewelry maker can create a secure design that protects the stone while allowing enough light to reveal its green and golden character.
